Chalet des Aravis

Steel and wood as main materials
aravis-salon

The main materials are the key elements of this renovation in which the central staircase walls in softly gleaming steel sheets are visible on all three floors. The airy feeling of the wooden staircase is strongly anchored by its iron supports and the graphic edging of its treads and risers.

The strength of the iron creates a framework that strengthens the natural, organic appeal of the wood and as the light changes throughout the day, the whole effect is calming, Zen-like.

Simple shapes in soft blue and grey complement the iron and add to the calm feeling.

The spacious kitchen with its generous and practical long worktops has no upper wall cupboards so that the kitchen flows into the living spaces with only the supporting beams as a reference to traditional mountain design.

For the bedrooms I chose earth colours, to balance the beautiful waxed concrete stone and granite . Headboards were designed and made for this project in wood pavers.
