The owners’ brief for this modern chalet was that it should be open to their superb mountain views.
So the design’s emphasis was on light and the rooms’ volumes. Lighting was chosen for its transparency and warm colour to enhance the lovely wood tones in the dramatic framework that recalls the interior of a cathedral. If the materials – wood, stone, pure wool and glass- are evident as my signature in all my interior design projects, I found their colours in the owner’s. Alexandra is passionate about photography and her abstract Alpine studies inspired me in my choices and brought modernity and relevance to the decorative scheme. The soft yellow of lichen on rocks, and the varying shades of glacial blue echo her artistry.
